Update on Exercise

Hey kiddos! This is Jonathan Yip back on the phone here. Have been very busy lately, so I have been really lagging behind my posts. Anyway, exercise has been in my hands lately; have been riding my scooter to the park and attending Kung Fu classes. Kung Fu has helped me to become more aware of myself and to use my moves when someone tries to physically attack me.

I ran the mile twice last month. Running the mile has never been easy for me, in fact most of my mile times are around 12-12.5 minutes. I ran a fastest mile time ever of 10:35 in 7th grade and 10th grade, but these cases are extremely rare. The reason for these slow miles are that I sweat very fast when running and run out of breath pretty quickly, giving me no option but to walk for portions of every lap, although I nowadays run the first lap without walking. Here were my last 2 miles times:

I also do Kung Fu outside of school. I really enjoy Kung Fu because Kung Fu gives me the opportunity to relax my mind and at the same time gives me time to exercise and learn moves for self defense. I highly recommend everyone to do martial arts; it helps improve attention, focus, and also allows oneself to discover their power.
I performed both a Kung Fu form and the Dragon Dance at the Foster City Chinese New Year Celebration.

A Week Before Chinese New Year; Compassionate Dogs, Tasty Tricks

Hey everyone! I have been so busy lately that I have been falling behind my posts. I went to 2 Chinese New Year get togethers this weekend, one for my mom's side of the family, the other for my dad's side of the family. The 2 different sides of my family do the celebration differently. Cantonese people tend to have 2 family get togethers; one before Chinese New Year, and one after Chinese New Year.

My mom's get together was my favorite part of the week. I got to see my cousin, Melissa, who lives in the city I call home, Los Angeles, along with her husband Scott. They rescued two very compassionate dogs; Brezel and Schnitzel. I have loved dogs for very long; they care a lot about you and tend to want to spend a lot of time with you. Here are some videos demonstrating these fantastic tricks they can both do. Well, got to go! More is coming on the way!
