More Magical Fun at the Disneyland Resort; SOAR Orientation at CSULB

Life back home has been more inspiring and magical with a big orientation and art school tour at CalState Long Beach and most of all, 2 inspiring days at the Disneyland Resort!

I had fun at the CalState Long Beach orientation. Unlike high school, which was very boring and kind of a waste of time, college is where I get to start taking classes mainly related to what I want to pursue! I toured the CSULB School of Art right after; they had some spectacular studios and animation classrooms.

My parents, especially my mom, have talked to me about their concerns. My mom was so surprised of my enthusiastic excitement and thought I was not worried at all for the move into the dorm. Being 5-6 hours away by car will be a hard transition for them. Honestly, overall, I am really excited to move into the dorm. I have been longing to move to L.A. for around 7 years now. I will be staying at the CSULB Parkside College while in school.

I then had dinner with my cousin, Melissa, and her husband, Scott. They live in Glassell Park, around 20-30 minutes from Downtown L.A. We went to this Taiwanese Beef Noodle place in the San Gabriel Valley. The San Gabriel Valley, unarguably, has the best Chinese food in California and the United States! My parents still prefer me to stay off wheat and gluten due to my special needs. Noodles are my favorite food to eat. Unfortunately, the restaurant we went to did not have any type of rice noodle, nor did they have any gluten free noodles, so I ended up eating a rice plate. For those who are unfamiliar with Chinese cuisine, rice noodles are the white noodles you usually see at Chinese restaurants and grocery stores.

 Last, and most of all, I got to see the new Pixar Pier at the Disneyland Resort! These last 2 days were packed with fun and creativity, as I rode some thrilling rides, took pictures with my favorite Disney characters, and learned more drawing techniques at the Disney Animation Academy.

Home at Last! Go Beach!

Hey everyone! This is your show lead, Jonathan Yip, live back home in Los Angeles, in the heart of sunny Southern California! After feeling homesick through living with my parents at their house in the San Francisco Bay Area for around a year, I am very delighted and proud to be back in the city I call home. By the way, When I mean homesick, I mean that I miss the city I have always called home, Los Angeles. 

We drove for 5 1/2 hours on early Wednesday morning. We arrived back at my home pretty late in the morning.

We eat at my favorite Chinese restaurant, Sam Woo BBQ. I got one of my favorite dishes there, the Caring Chicken Fried Rice.

The following day was packed with adventures to my school, CalState Long Beach, often known as CSULB. I got to meet some of the art advisors I will be working on to pursue my dream of animation and hitting it big in the entertainment industry. Disney and animation are exactly how I started calling L.A. my home and my favorite city in the first place.
