A Tour of One of the Best Film Schools in the World; Another Day Of Tasty Noodles and Chinese Food

June 26, 2017

Hey everybody! This is JYip speaking on the line here again! This day was another great day in my heart! I toured the University of Southern California; especially the USC School of Cinematic Arts.  I have loved cartoons and movies of all kinds, especially animated films, since the middle of 5th grade, and have decided to work towards my dream of becoming a famous animator and movie director ever since then. I really love the USC School of Cinematic Arts because they have a really professional and outstanding animation and film program; they are the 2nd best in the country; only behind CalArts Character Animation. The USC Campus is my favorite out of the 3 schools I toured because it is very close to the city I call home, especially Downtown Los Angeles. People back in the San Francisco Bay Area have always questioned me on why I call L.A. home and why I prefer to live down here rather than up in the Bay Area. Yes, the Pixar Animation Studios is located in the East Bay, but the number of movie and recording studios, actors, celebrities, and officials working in the entertainment industry is way more present and widespread down in Southern California. Way more connections can be made in Southern California; L.A. is the Entertainment Capital of the World!

We arrived a little late due to mass loads of traffic on the 405 and the 110, it took us literally over an hour to get to USC. A presentation about admission and scholarships happened first, followed by a student-led tour, and finally, the tour and presentation at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

I am also currently working on a film about Los Angeles and how it cherished my life and heart. The release date is TBD since I may need to record more visual samples on my next return to Los Angeles. I had one of my brothers record myself in front of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. My parents and brothers just do not understand my full personality, especially my dad. So I had to tell them I was not going to leave until I was recorded. Luckily, the recording went pretty well.

After USC, we went to the fabulous Los Angeles Chinatown, driving through traffic on Figueroa Street, passing through the 110, the 10, and the 101. We went to the Sam Woo BBQ Restaurant, my favorite Chinese restaurant chain, in Chinatown for lunch. I ordered my favorite beef with fun noodle soup for lunch, along with an iced tea. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Chinese food! Yes, I am Chinese-American and love Chinese food!

My favorite dish to eat/drink, besides fruits and fruit juice.

After lunch, we headed on over to the Marukai Market in Gardena to shop. We bought several nice drinks and goodies. The store was pretty crowded.

After the Marukai Market, we headed on over to the Del Amo Center. I spent my whole time before dinner in the Disney Store watching cartoons and trailers, as well as drawing. My family and I ate dinner at Din Tai Fung, another one of my favorite Chinese restaurant chains. Their Xiao Long Baos were the best, along with their rice cakes. The service here is the best out of any Chinese restaurant.

Well, that's the end of my show today! Thanks for tuning in and stay tuned for more posts rolling along the way!
