A Little History of Myself
I remember going to preschool, and kindergarten, and crying every time my parents left me. My mind was elsewhere every minute of those sessions, except for the math/numbers part.
Elementary school was very disliking and difficult for me. The only subject I got all A's in was math, for which I felt was going too slow. Every other subject, I did not receive any A's after the modification of the content.
Middle school was when things started to get much better. I really enjoyed learning animation in Mr. Pomeroy's yearlong animation classes in 7th/8th grade, as well as Algebra 1. I still got bored in all my other classes, except 8th Grade Physics.
High school is stressful, although more fun was added to the day. Clubs and more roaming space during lunch made the days better.
Another way contributing to my dislike of school are the learning and teaching styles most of the teachers use: lectures.... timed tests.... very hard and boring!!!!!! I learn the best by doing and by seeing pictures. Hands-on labs and watching movies allow me to learn the subjects much easier than sitting in a quiet room with only the teacher talking. Actually, during many of those lectures, I am sleeping during class, daydreaming about my future and how my characters will bring joy to the world.
History of my Test Scores
I want to give a little history of my test scores since 6th grade to show you how hard school is for me. Each record high/record low score represents 1 test I took in 1 particular class
Math Tests:
Record High Test Score: 105% (11th Grade Honors Pre-Calculus)
Average Test Score: 95%
Record Low Test Score: 59% (7th Grade Pre-Algebra)
Science Tests:
Record High Test Score: 110% (AP Physics C)
Average Test Score: 79%
Record Low Test Score: 51% (7th Grade Science)
History Tests:
Record High Test Score: 94% (8th Grade History)
Average Test Score: 70%
Record Low Test Score: 43% (6th Grade)
English Tests:
Record High Test Score: RSP: 100% (7th Grade)
Regular/Co-taught: 85% (10th Grade English)
Average Test Score: 57%
Record Low Test Score: 10% (8th Grade English)
Math tests are fairly easy for me for the most part these days. If I get a low test score in a math class, it's usually because the reading is too complicated, time crunch, and/or I make careless mistakes.
Other tests are all difficult. I have not gotten an A on a history test, nor an English test since the beginning of 11th grade and the end of 7th Grade RSP English respectively.
Anyway, finals just scare me a lot. They cover a lot of material and expect me to remember a lot of unnecessary details. I pray that this year's finals will go alright.
